JIGSAW
2011 – 2012 Business Plan
1.0 Summary
2.0 Our Mission, Aims and Objectives
3.0 Objectives
1.0 Summary Jigsaw Out of School Scheme is privately owned. It has been registered since 2004 and is located in Thackley Methodist Church Community Centre, on the outskirts of Bradford. We are registered for 32 children, aged four to eight years, and children up to age 12 years may attend. We provide parents with a safe and secure place where their children can be taken care of.
1.1 Services The scheme is open from Monday to Friday, all year round, before and after school, the times are 07:30 to 09:00 and 15:00 to 18:00, and during school holidays 07:30 to 18:00.
1.2 Company Location and Facilities Jigsaw is located in Thackley Methodist Church Community Centre, on the outskirts of Bradford. Two main rooms are available, the 'coffee lounge' on the ground floor and a large hall, with a small adjacent room, on the first floor. Also, an outdoor play area to the rear of the premises is secure and suitable for children. The group has permission to use a nearby playing field, for outside play.
1.3 The Market There are only two other Out of School Schemes within the Idle/Thackley area; Thorpe and Blakehill, both these Out of School Schemes only cater for children from their School, unlike Jigsaw which is not affiliated with just one school but a number of schools within the Idle, Thackley and Shipley area. However in order to make sure we keep our cliental, we make sure all employees have a customer-centric attitude which is important as it is our employees that interact with both the children, parents and schools and will give us the best chance to impress them so that they turn into loyal customers as well as recommending us to friends about the positive child care experiences they have had at Jigsaw.
1.4 The Customers Jigsaw concentrates on two main different target customers.
The first is children who attend during term-time. 95.5% of children registered to attending during term time attend either Thackley or Idle School where as 4.5% of children attend other schools within the area. Children who attended during term- time tend to have set days to coincide with their parents working hours/college times etc., therefore it is easy to forecast how many children will be attending each morning and afternoon.
The second is children who attend during the holidays. While again 80% of children who attending the holiday play scheme go to Thackley or Idle School, the other 20% of children go to other schools within the area. The pattern of children attending during the Holidays tend to differ as parents may take time off work, or other family members may help look after the children for all or half the day. It is a lot harder to predict how many children will attend the holiday playscheme until a week before when parents know exactly what childcare hours they need.
1.5 Management Summary Jigsaw is managed by Avis Ward with the help of Vicky Saville Deputy Manager. Both have extensive experience in the child care industry, and have maintained excellent reputations in this same industry.
2.0 Our Mission and Aims
2.1 Aim “At Jigsaw Out of School & Holiday Playscheme we aim to provide high quality, affordable out of school childcare in a safe, fun environment and to support local parents to start, re-start or continue in employment, education or training. We have activities which take into account the children's differing stages of development and their individual needs.”
2.2 Mission Statement Our new Mission Statement; ‘The Missing Piece in your child’s Life’ refers to the fact that not only is Jigsaw important to parents so that they can work or train but Jigsaw is just as important to the children who attend, as they can carry out activities they might not be able to do at home, meet new friends, increase their social confidence and as this is not in a school environment it is more relaxed. A couple of parents send their children to us not because they work but purely for them to meet up with their friends, have fun whilst they do their weekly shop etc.
2.3 Keys to Success Keys to success for the business include:
1. Maintaining a reputable and untarnished reputation in the community. 2. Quality care in a fun environment. 3. Competitive pricing. Reduced prices for siblings. 4. Flexible hours.
